What to prepare

Your presentation is designed to give the class a sense of what your project has focused on, your research path, and any lingering questions you might have. It should be 10-15 minutes in length and can include a visual component.

What to include: Creative Project

  • An overview of the narrative of your creative project: Where does it take place? When? Who is involved? What happens?
  • A discussion of some of the central sources, primary and secondary, that you used and how they helped you develop your project
  • Why you chose to focus on this particular topic
  • A discussion of any challenges or victories you faced on your research path: What was hard? Fun? Exciting?
  • Any lingering challenges you are still facing

What to include: Research Essay

  • A discussion of your research question and the argument you developed in answer to it
  • An overview of the structure of your essay and how you went about answering that question
  • A discussion of some of the central sources, primary and secondary, that you used and how they helped you develop your project
  • Why you chose to focus on this topic
  • A discussion of any challenges or victories you faced on your research path: What was hard? Fun? Exciting?
  • Any lingering challenges or unanswered questions you are facing
